The Auctions

Several auctions take place during the Mennonite Relief Sale and are a major source of revenue for the sale.

The General Auction (Sunflower Building North) will feature a wide variety of merchandise, starting at 6pm on Friday, and resuming at 8:45am on Saturday.

The Quilt Auction (Meadowlark Building) will also start at 8:45am on Saturday and run concurrently with the General Auction. Both auctions will run throughout the morning and early afternoon on Saturday.

The Surplus Auction (Meadowlark Building) starts around 2:30pm on Saturday to sell any food items that did not sell out during the sale.

General Auction

Hesston NFR Buckles and 1954 Farmall Cub highlight General Auction Sale Bill

There is something for everyone to bid on at the General Auction.

Each year hundreds of items are donated by Mennonite churches and individuals. These donations are essential in making the General Auction possible. Items range from hand-crafted furniture such as a solid oak table (44" x 62" extending to 17' with 12 12" leaves) and clocks to bird houses and children's toys.

Featured Items

A 1954 International Farmall Cub: a popular tractor among collectors due to small-compact size. Fully-restored with new front tires

• A complete set of Hesston National Finals Rodeo Buckles (1974-2004) with oak table display case with glass top. Includes the rare 1974 buckle worth by itself around $500.
• 7-piece Lemonade Set: Depression Era 80 oz. Pitcher & 6-10 oz. Tumblers, Pattern: Ring "Banded Rings", Line #300, Hocking Glass Company, this pattern was only made from 1927-1933.
• (Note: the steer previously announced will not be available at the auction after all)

Special

• 2005 MCC Stained Glass Stepping Stone (scheduled for Friday Auction)
• (20) Bur Oak trees up to 4" diameter trunks, grown in Central KS, scheduled to sell 10 trees Fri. & 10 Sat., (tree spade service offered at reduced rate: $2 a mile round trip from tree location, rural Canton, charges are separate from purchase price)
• 1983-1997 Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale church buckles
• Engine & Transmission from Partridge Auto Supply, Inc., front wheel drive, V-6, 3.8 Ltr, 86,000 miles
• 15 pick-up loads of hedge wood from Bethel Mennonite, Inman
• Olympic T-Shirt from Athens, Greece
• Snapper rider mower, 33" deck.

Antiques

Antique wooden table, 38" x 56", 3 leaves extend table to 7 1/2', rectangle shape, 6 matching chairs

• A natural color Irish linen tablecloth (92" x 56") with 12 matching napkins (14" x 14", each a different design) is being re-donated to the auction. It was made by a Muslim woman in 1976 in Jerusalem featuring an all white design of tatting and cross stitch. It was originally auctioned in 1998 purchased for $1000.
• 10 gal. antique crock
• Oak antique Prayer Kneeler, 25" tall x 71" wide x 14" deep, Knebler base.

• Wood-Framed Quarter Map of the United States (for Denver & Philadelphia Mint quarters)
• Dollar coins: 1890, 1921, 1922, 1923
• Quarters: 1938-1970
• Dimes: 1946-1963
• $2 bills: 1978, 1995
• Kennedy Half-dollars.

Quilt Auction

The quilt display opens on Friday and the auction begins Saturday at 8:45am, continuing to mid-afternoon. It all takes place in the Meadowlark Building at the South-West corner of the fairgrounds.

Surplus Auction

Finally, marking the end of the sale on Saturday, the Surplus Auction starts around 2:30pm to sell any items not sold during the sale; especially perishable items like food. As the final auction of the sale, expect some fun and good bargains here!

The Surplus Auction is held in the Meadowlark Building immediately following the close of the Quilt Auctions.
