It is the middle of April and our usual timeline for the Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale would have us making the final preparations for this event. But we are not on our regular timeline and we want to make sure people know about our new timeline.
As you probably know, the Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale has been rescheduled to take place on July 2 and 3 of 2021. For the second year in a row, the sale has been altered because of the health impact of the Covid 19 pandemic. The Board believes it is important to have the sale, and to provide the opportunity for Inter-Mennonite cooperation in supporting the work of the Mennonite Central Committee as it responds to events and needs around the world.
When we gather at the State Fair Grounds in July, it is important for us to remember our purpose. When we gather together in Hutchinson, or when we get together as committees to plan for the sale, or when we work in our wood shops, or sew a quilt, or make the baked goods that are sold for world relief we are preparing an event that will help around the world. Our purpose is to shine the light of God’s love to a needy world.
For the next 9 weeks our goal is to finish getting ready for the sale. To prepare prayerfully and purposefully as we show God’s love and the light of that love to a world that is coming out of the darkness of disease and despair. We have the opportunity to be active representatives of Jesus, as we help to make the world a better place by using our talents, our gifts, our generosity, and our faith.
The Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale needs your prayers, your participation, your donations, your attendance and commitment. This year’s sale will be different. It will be in the summer. Schedules and heat will impact our menu, and perhaps even the number of booths. But remember, the goal of the sale is still the same. The opportunity to participate is still the same. As you participate remember, no gift is too small, and the needs are so great. We hope to see you this summer at The Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale. Together we will make an impact and show God’s light and God’s love.
If you have not already done so, mark July 2nd and 3rd on your calendars and prepare to be the workers that Jesus asks us to be when He tells us to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and care for the sick. We may not be able to travel to the countries impacted by MCC, but we can help to support the efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee.
