In 1948, my great-aunt Malinda accompanied her brother Joe and his wife Emma to Europe. All were from Fulton County, Ohio. They went to visit their nephew and son Harold who was working with MCC in relief work in Alsace following the war.
They traveled by ship and disembarked somewhere near London. They spent several weeks in England and then crossed the English Channel, landing somewhere in the Netherlands. From there they took a two-hour train trip to Amsterdam. While in the Netherlands they visited the city of Delft where both Emma and Malinda bought the traditional blue pottery from a factory that had been in the same family for 400 years.
