**Update: Last week a notice was sent out for our January KMRS General Meeting with the wrong date. Our meeting will be on the second Thursday, January 14, at 7:00 pm. Details on how to connect virtually will be sent out before the meeting.
A time to Consider and Plan for 2021 KMRS…In November we met virtually and made the transition from celebrating the wonderful results of a variety of events leading to 2 donations totaling, including the donations sent directly to MCC’s KMRS account of $560,000. At that meeting we also heard reports concerning MCC and the impact on those who serve and those who are served “in the name of Christ”.
Now, it is December and Christmas (at this writing) is still a week away. Our first general meeting of 2021 is scheduled for January 14. While it is not what any of us would like, it will be a zoom meeting. Barb Reeves, our secretary, will send out the invitation and a reminder. Many of us have become familiar with the zoom program and the technology that can bring us all together, while maintaining social distance. It is a unique situation that we find ourselves in but the needs of the world remain present and the work and ministry of MCC remains pertinent, necessary, and Christlike. Therefore, we must plan and prepare, even though not is all clear, about what we will have the opportunity to do.
The Board will be meeting before Jan.14 and will have some information to present to you about what to expect in the coming months. There will be challenges. There will be questions. We will have to adapt. We will need to be flexible. We must remember our purpose and our calling.
One of the most important things you can do at this time is to plan to be there, on line, on Jan. 14 at 7 PM. If you have the opportunity to communicate with your church, your committee members, your volunteers before then, please make that contact. We need to know the worries, the concerns, and the willingness of people to participate in the 2021 Sale.
For over one hundred years, MCC has overcome obstacles to carry out its ministry around the world. It has happened in ways that can only be attributed to God’s presence in the work of MCC. “God Can”. For over 50 years the Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale, and Relief Sales across North America, have been able to provide the funds, the prayers, the support, and the community to make MCC’s work possible. Last year was difficult, but we were successful because of the dedication of all of you.
Prayers, at this time, are essential. Being flexible and willing to see opportunities rather than hurdles will help us put together a plan that will glorify God and allow relief , development, and peace in the name of Christ, to take place.
Please, plan on joining us on Jan. 14.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Blessings to All
“in the name of Christ”
Jim Robb, Chair, KMRS Board
