Update from KMRS Chair, Jim Robb

THANK YOU! Thank you for your generosity.  Thank you for your commitment and thank you for your belief in the purpose of the Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale.  It was a great weekend and the hopes and prayers of many were realized.  We were able to have the sale, raise a substantial amount of money for MCC and create a community of like-minded individuals who joined together, offering their talents, resources and faith to help make the world a better place.

Our sale on July 2 and 3 of 2021 was the first in-person “MCC Relief Sale” since February of 2020.  Many were excited by the possibility of having our sale in Hutchinson, some people and churches committed to keeping the sale and the leadership of the sale in their prayers.  Those prayers were realized as we were able to overcome obstacles and create a plan that allowed for people to come together to socialize, to support a most worthy cause, and in supporting and believing in this cause we worshiped and exhibited our faith in God.

The theme of the sale was “let your light shine”, …a prayer to God to guide us as we prepared for the 2021 sale. But it also was a symbol of coming out of the darkness of the pandemic and trusting that God would light the sale with hope and thankfulness.

We could not have done it without you…the volunteers, the committee leaders, the Board members, and the people who came to eat, to bid, to buy, to promote the work of relief, development and peace around the world.

At this writing we are close to raising $500,000, putting together the pre-sale activities of the KMRS  (Plants and Things, Bohne Beroggi Sales, a benefit estate auction, and the fall Quilter’s Corner Sale), plus the many donations that have come in since the sale, and the amount raised on July 2 and 3.  This money will make a difference around the world.

Please make plans to attend the Annual Meeting of the KMRS at First Mennonite Church of McPherson on Aug. 26. It will be a time of celebration, a time of thanksgiving and a time of worship, in addition to the business meeting and the election of Board Members.

God Bless You All, for your contributions and help making the 2021 KMRS a SUCCESS.

With Gratitude in My Heart,

Jim Robb
